Privacy Policy

We Are Committed to Safeguarding Customer Information

To better serve your needs now and in the future, we may ask you to provide us with certain information. To provide the products and services you request from us, we may also obtain consumer reports and other information from the consumer reporting agencies and our affiliate consumer reporting agency companies. We understand that you may be concerned about what we will do with such information – particularly any personal or financial information. We agree that you have a right to know how we will utilize such information. Therefore, we have adopted this Privacy Policy to govern the use and handling of your personal information.

Applicability

This Privacy Policy governs our use of the information that you provide to us, or we otherwise obtain in providing our products and services to you. As a credit report reseller, we comply with the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), as amended, including recent updates such as the Homebuyers Privacy Protection Act (effective March 2026), which restricts the sharing of consumer credit reports for certain marketing purposes without explicit consent.

Types of Information

Depending upon which of our services you are utilizing, the types of nonpublic personal information that we may collect include:

  • Information we receive from you on applications, forms and in other communications to us, whether in writing, in person, by telephone or any other means
  • Information about your transactions with us, our affiliated companies, or others
  • Information we receive from a consumer reporting agency and other data and information providers

In accordance with CFPB regulations, we do not include medical debt or related medical information in consumer reports, except as permitted under the FCRA for specific purposes such as insurance underwriting or employment where allowed.

Changes to Information

If you want to update or correct information you have provided us, you can do so by sending us a letter to 480 Town Center Drive N #443, Mooresville, IN 46158, emailing us at info@settlementone.com, or calling us at 1-800-340-2009. If you want to correct information in a consumer report we provide on you that you believe is incorrect, you can do so through the dispute resolution process provided under the Fair Credit Reporting Act or other applicable laws. For disputes related to medical information or other restricted data, we follow the latest CFPB guidelines to ensure timely resolution.

Use of Information

We request information from you or obtain information about you for our own legitimate business purposes and not for the benefit of any third party. Therefore, we will not release your information to any party, whether affiliated with us or not, except: (1) as necessary for us to provide the product or service you have requested of us; or (2) as permitted by law. We may, however, store such information, including during the period after which any customer relationship has ceased. Such information may be used for any internal purpose, such as quality control efforts or customer analysis.

Under the Homebuyers Privacy Protection Act, we will not share your credit report information for “trigger lead” marketing purposes (e.g., unsolicited offers from lenders following a credit inquiry) without your express consent. We also adhere to FCRA preemption rules, as clarified by the CFPB, which prevent state laws from overriding federal standards on credit report content.

Former Customers

Even if you are no longer our customer, our Privacy Policy will continue to apply to you.

Confidentiality and Security

We will use our best efforts to ensure that no unauthorized parties have access to any of your information. We restrict access to nonpublic personal information about you to those individuals and entities that need to know that information to provide products or services to you. We will use our best efforts to train and oversee our employees and agents to ensure that your information will be handled responsibly and in accordance with this Privacy Policy and SettlementOne’s guidelines. We currently maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards that comply with federal regulations to guard your nonpublic personal information. SettlementOne may, from time to time, contact you via e-mail to inform you of changes or updates to our site or products. We will never send you a request via e-mail for any personal information (e.g., social security number, account number, date of birth, etc.). If you receive an e-mail asking for personal information, please contact our Technical Support Department at 1-800-340-2009 so we can take the proper action to protect you.

State-Specific Privacy Rights

If you are a resident of certain states, you may have additional rights under state privacy laws, such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA, as amended by the CPRA) or similar laws in states like Virginia, Colorado, and others that have enacted comprehensive data privacy statutes. These rights may include:

  • The right to know what personal information we collect about you, including categories of sources and purposes.
  • The right to request deletion of your personal information, subject to exceptions.
  • The right to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information (note: we do not sell personal information as defined under these laws).
  • The right to non-discrimination for exercising your rights.

To exercise these rights, contact us with the details provided above. We will verify your request in accordance with applicable laws. For California residents, additional updates to CCPA regulations include enhanced rules on automated decision-making and sensitive personal information.

Material Changes in Privacy Policy and Former Statements

Any material changes to our Privacy Practices or security procedures will be posted on this page so that you are always aware of what information we collect and how we use it as well as the latest material changes we make to our security procedures.

This policy was last updated in March 2026 to incorporate recent FCRA amendments, CFPB rules on medical information, and expansions in state privacy laws.
